Orthospinology: The Study of Correction of the Spine

We are chiropractors but the focus of our practice is the detection and correction of structural shifts of the spine particularly of the upper cervical spine.
Why do we emphasis this area of the spine?  It is a "tried and true" approach to difficult and complicated cases that has been effective throughout the history of the profession.
Most chiropractors use spinal manipulation to improve range of motion and reduce muscle spasm.  All chiropractors, including Dr. Dennis and Dr. Jay, are trained in these techniques.  What we have done is go further than most chiropractor by combining modern science with traditional procedures.  We have found the results very effective in handling even the most difficult cases.  We have taken hundreds of hours in additional training in order to blend these new scientific dicoveries with traditional chiropractic perspectives that helps people get well and get well quickly.
We use spinal adjustments to reposition the structural shift and then reinforce that adjustment with corrective measures that strengthen the spine in its new, more normal position.  This approach is critical for long term benefits from short term treatment.

Every person who is struggling with a health problem deserves an opportunity to have their questions answered.  We welcome an opportunity to give you a second opinion.  If you would like to discuss your health "off the record", go to that page ("off the record"), call the office and schedule a free complementary interview.

Chronic Pain and Drug Addiction:

There are times in life when there is no choice but to dull the pain.  Pain relieving drugs are often merciful in cases of severe injury or after surgery.  At those times we can all be glad pain medication is there.

However, addiction centers all over the country have too many addicts who started taking prescription drugs for pain associated with injuries that left them with chronic painful structural shifts of the spine.  For many, the structural shifts are still present generating pain and dysfunction on an ongoing basis.  The structural shift was never reduced though the injury on the surface healed.  I am alarmed by this trend and adamantly speak out against it.

The practice of ignoring the very real problem of chronic spinal dysfunction (especially of the upper neck) causing or exacerbating chronic pain, cannot simply be ignored, overlooked or "medicated" without end.

If chronic pain can be significantly improved or eliminated, recovery from addiction stands a better chance.  A  common sense choice, before addiction has any chance to occur, is to resolve the spinal dysfunction and associated neurological components before attempting to lessen or eliminate pain with medication on a long term basis.

Alas, the convenience offered by a pill is seemingly quicker than the journey to health and pain relief with a highly trained chiropractor.  From our perspective, the journey to natural health and relief from pain is nothing compared to addiction.

Just our opinion,
