Low back pain is a problem for the low back pain sufferer, the family, the community, and the healthcare system. Healthcare providers and researchers investigate suggested long-term ways to decrease this problem for whose sufferers’ disability continues. Exercise leads the list of non-invasive, non-drug general recommendations along with manual therapy and massage. Countless chronic back pain sufferers take themselves to their primary care practitioners first. it is a pretty normal experience. Primary care recommendations for chronic low back pain care typically involve exercise, oral prescriptions of NSAIDs and SNRI’s like duloxetine. In research, there is an interesting statistic called “number to treat” which indicates the number of patients with a certain condition who need to undergo the treatment recommendation for 1 of the treatment recipients to report benefit. In this recent study, the number to treat for 1 chronic low back pain patient to report benefit from exercise was 7, from NSAIDs 6, and SNRIs 10. Of these three options, exercise was the only intervention that demonstrated sustained chronic low back pain relief after the intervention ended and up to 48 weeks later. (2) Exercise is a useful, self-management, non-drug alternative for chronic low back pain patients. Young Chiropractic always incorporates it in the Easley chiropractic treatment plan. Another advantageous patient-controlled option is sleep-and-exercise. Lack of sleep – time and/or quality – is an issue for so many Easley chiropractic patients. An interesting study about the relationship between sleep and exercise features some interesting findings in young men and women. Each is different! Men who exercised more often reported falling asleep faster, less daytime issues, and less depressive mood. Women who exercised more often went to bed early, had better sleep quality, and reported more benefit from sleep, less depressive mood, and less anger. (3) Regular exercise is key for so many concerns!
