Can Chiropractic Relieve Neck Pain? Easley Chiropractic Thoracic Spine Treatment Helps Ease Neck and Arm Pain.

June 18, 2019

The spine. Its five sections make up one spine, so it makes sense that treating one area might affect another. So interesting. So recently published! Young Chiropractic enjoys new research, and this new research describes how treating the thoracic spine positively influences the status of the cervical spine. Young Chiropractic is all for the two-for-one effect for spinal pain reduction! When conditions of cervical spine myelopathy and disc herniation are involved, Easley neck pain patients will be, too.

CERVICAL SPINE PAIN

Cervical spine pain may include neck pain as well as radiculopathy or cervical radicular pain down the arm. Such diseases of the cervical spine may trigger other issues, too. For example, patients who have cervical spine spinal cord disease have three times more likelihood of having cardiovascular disease. Rapidly progressive cervical spine myelopathy patients are apt to have a history of a cardiovascular event and show C4/5 disc hyperintensity on T2-MRI images. (1) Another intriguing study of patients with degenerative cervical myelopathy - a progressive spine disease involving cervical spinal cord compression – discovered that patients evaluated the quality of their care based on satisfaction. The research findings, therefore, reiterate the importance of explaining to patients what they can expect to enhance satisfaction: At 12 months after surgery for neck degenerative myelopathy, the relief of pain and function issues may be better (37%), may remain the same (55%), or may deteriorate (7%). (2) Honesty is the best policy in life and in doctor-patient relationships. Young Chiropractic presents its proposed treatment’s expected outcomes as well as the course of healing to be expected on day one. (ex: “Some days will be better than others as you heal. Healing comes when the good days begin to exceed the poor ones.”) Easley chiropractic care including gentle chiropractic adjusting – like with Cox® Technic – improves the odds of good days and more good days!

THORACIC SPINE ADJUSTING HELPS CERVICAL SPINE PAIN

Chiropractic treatment of the thoracic spine can be quite gentle and pain-relieving not just for the thoracic spine but also the cervical spine. Thoracic spine thrust adjusting has been shown to ease cervical spine pain and enhance disability. A recent article tells of improvements in pain, disability, cervical spine range of motion, and deep neck flexor endurance in patients with cervical spine radiculopathy after just one treatment. These changes were most reported by patients 48 to 72 hours after treatment. (3) Adjacent cervical and thoracic spine sections feed off of each other’s care! Amazing! There is that positive two-for-one effect again.
